Why Pet Owners Choose This Harness
Dual front and back leash attachments provide versatility for everyday walks and light training with a no pull dog harness configuration.
Five adjustment points allow a near-custom fit across a range of large dog body shapes, minimizing slipping and uneven pressure distribution.
Padded chest piece disperses kinetic energy and reduces stress on the trachea and sternum – important for large dogs with greater body mass and pulling force.
UTX Weinerlock quick release buckles allow fast, single-press on and off without prolonged handling of large, active dogs.
Reflective trim improves handler visibility during low-light walks, early mornings, and evening outings.
Includes a 10-inch seat belt loop for vehicle restraint, keeping large dogs secured during travel.
Machine washable on a gentle cycle for straightforward routine maintenance of high-use gear.
Material and Construction
The Tru Fit Smart Harness is constructed from durable ripstop fabric, a tightly woven material resistant to tearing and abrasion under regular active use. The chest piece is generously padded to cushion contact points and distribute pressure across the sternum rather than concentrating it at the throat – a meaningful consideration for large dogs that generate more force during walks. Hardware includes UTX Weinerlock quick release buckles designed for reliable, single-press release under repeated daily use. Reflective trim is integrated throughout the harness for added low-light visibility. Construction is rated moderate duty – appropriate for daily walks and active large dogs, but not intended for heavy-duty working or sustained pulling applications.
Fit, Sizing, and Wear Guidance
This dog harness uses an over-the-head entry style with quick release buckles at the sides, allowing the handler to secure the harness without requiring the dog to step in or remain still for extended periods. Five independent adjustment points across the chest, belly, and shoulder areas allow the fit to be calibrated for large dogs with varying body proportions. The padded chest panel distributes pressure evenly, reducing discomfort during extended wear. Proper fit should allow two fingers to slide comfortably under any strap. Sizing is intended for large dogs; consult Kurgo’s sizing guide to confirm measurements before use.
Functional Use
The Tru Fit Smart Harness includes both front and back leash attachment points, allowing handlers to use it as a standard back clip dog harness for relaxed daily walks or connect to the front ring for added steering and directional control. The back clip provides a natural walking position suited for large dogs with established leash behavior. The front clip redirects forward movement, offering improved guidance for large dogs that pull. This dual clip design makes the harness adaptable across different walking environments and training stages without requiring separate gear for each use case.
Safety, Usage, and Care Guidance
Ensure proper fit before each use – straps should be snug but not restrictive, especially on large, powerful dogs.
Inspect buckles, stitching, and adjustment points regularly for signs of wear or stress damage.
Do not use on dogs outside the intended size range – an improperly sized harness reduces both safety and control.
The included seat belt loop is designed for vehicle restraint only and is not crash tested.
Store in a clean, dry location when not in use to preserve fabric and hardware integrity.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Machine wash on a gentle cycle or spot clean as needed.
Air dry only – do not place in a dryer or expose to high heat, which can degrade ripstop fabric and buckle integrity.
Inspect hardware after washing to confirm buckles and adjustment points remain fully functional.
