The Kurgo Journey Air Harness is a no pull dog harness engineered for active XSmall dogs that need a lightweight, breathable fit for running, hiking, and extended outdoor use. A wide padded chest plate, deep V-neck design, and breathable mesh inner layer work together to reduce neck strain and keep shoulders free during high-output activity. Why Pet Owners Choose This Harness
Front clip attachment helps discourage pulling by redirecting the dog’s forward movement back toward the handler – significantly reducing pulling behavior during walks and active outings.
No pull handle on the back provides immediate, direct physical control when pulling occurs – allowing the handler to guide or steady XSmall dogs without relying solely on leash tension.
Breathable mesh inner layer paired with a ripstop outer keeps XSmall dogs cooler during high-output activities like running and hiking.
Deep V-neck design keeps the shoulders free and reduces restriction during athletic movement – a meaningful advantage over standard everyday dog harnesses for small, active breeds.
Wide padded chest plate distributes pressure across the sternum and reduces strain on the neck – particularly beneficial for XSmall dogs with more delicate tracheal structures.
Lightweight rust-free aluminum hardware keeps total harness weight at 8 oz – minimizing added load on smaller dogs.
Reflective trim improves handler visibility during low-light runs, early mornings, and evening outings.
Material and Construction
The Journey Air Harness is built with a durable ripstop fabric outer layer and a breathable mesh inner layer. The ripstop outer resists tearing and abrasion during trail and outdoor use, while the mesh inner promotes airflow against the dog’s body during sustained activity. The wide padded chest plate cushions the sternum and reduces neck strain under load – an important consideration for XSmall breeds with more delicate tracheal structures. Hardware is rust-free aluminum throughout, contributing to the harness’s 8 oz total weight. Nifco quick release buckles provide reliable, fast on and off. Four adjustment points allow a near-custom fit across XSmall dog body shapes. Construction is rated moderate duty – well-suited for active outdoor use including running and hiking.
Fit, Sizing, and Wear Guidance
The Journey Air uses an over-the-head entry style with Nifco quick release buckles at the sides for fast, secure closure. Four adjustment points across the chest and body allow the fit to be calibrated for XSmall dogs with varying proportions. The deep V-neck keeps the shoulder area unrestricted, which is particularly beneficial for XSmall dogs with an athletic build or active stride. The padded chest plate distributes pressure evenly across the sternum. Proper fit should allow two fingers to slide comfortably under any strap. Sizing is intended for XSmall dogs; consult Kurgo’s sizing guide to confirm measurements before use.
Functional Use
The Journey Air is a no pull dog harness with dual clip functionality and a no pull handle that together give handlers three points of control. The front chest clip helps discourage pulling by redirecting the dog’s movement back toward the handler when they surge forward – significantly reducing pulling without eliminating the dog’s natural drive. The no pull handle provides immediate physical control when pulling occurs, allowing the handler to guide, steady, or reposition XSmall dogs quickly without relying on leash tension alone – particularly useful in busy environments, on trails, or during training. The back clip offers a natural walking position for dogs with established leash behavior or during low-distraction outings.
Safety, Usage, and Care Guidance
Ensure proper fit before each use – straps should be snug but not restrictive, especially during high-output activity.
Inspect buckles, stitching, adjustment points, and the no pull handle regularly for signs of wear or stress damage.
Do not use on dogs outside the intended size range – an improperly sized harness reduces both safety and control.
Store in a clean, dry location when not in use to preserve fabric, mesh, and hardware integrity.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Machine wash on a gentle cycle or spot clean as needed.
Air dry only – do not place in a dryer or expose to high heat, which can degrade ripstop fabric, mesh, and buckle integrity.
Inspect aluminum hardware and Nifco buckles after washing to confirm all components remain fully functional.
