Why Pet Owners Choose This Toy
Cotton and fleece braid is softer and stretchier than standard rope, making it gentler on a dog’s mouth during tug play
Two knots along the 40-inch length provide multiple grip points for both dog and owner during interactive tug sessions
Natural chewing behavior is supported by the braided fiber construction, which also provides a mild dental fiber benefit
40-inch length creates comfortable distance between dog and owner during tug play
Fleece component adds a soft, stretchy quality that rewards repeated chewing and tugging engagement
Large format sizing is appropriate for large and extra-large breeds with the jaw strength to engage a rope toy
Dual-knot design increases engagement by giving dogs more surface area to grip, mouth, and interact with
Material and Construction
The KONG Signature Rope Mega Dual Knot is constructed from a braided combination of cotton and fleece fibers. The cotton provides structural integrity and chew resistance, while the fleece component adds softness and a stretchy quality that is gentler on teeth and gums than standard cotton-only rope toys. Two knots are tied along the 40-inch length, reinforcing the rope at key grip points and adding structural density where dogs are most likely to mouth and pull. This is a moderate-duty toy suited for regular tug and chewing sessions, not intended for aggressive chewers who may break down fiber toys quickly.
Texture, Size, and Play Duration Guidance
The braided cotton and fleece construction has a soft, slightly stretchy feel with a textured surface that dogs can grip comfortably. The 40-inch length and dual-knot design make this toy well-suited for large and extra-large breeds. Play duration will vary — dogs engaged in active tug sessions with an owner may play for extended periods, while dogs left to chew unsupervised may work through the fibers more quickly. Monitor fiber integrity regularly and replace when the rope shows significant fraying or knot loosening.
Play Style and Functional Use
Tug Toy: The 40-inch length provides ample distance between dog and owner during tug sessions, and the two knots give the dog clear grip points to latch onto. The stretchy cotton-fleece braid absorbs tension during pulling, making tug sessions more comfortable for both dog and handler. The rope can also be used for solo chewing between tug sessions, with the braided fibers providing a satisfying texture for natural chewing behavior.
Safety, Usage, and Care Guidance
Moderate supervision is recommended during play. Inspect the rope regularly for fraying, loose fibers, or knot deterioration. Replace the toy if significant fraying occurs to prevent ingestion of fiber material. Rope toys are not recommended for unsupervised use with dogs that aggressively chew through fiber materials. Ensure the 40-inch size is appropriate for your dog’s size and play style. Store in a dry location when not in use.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Hand wash with mild soap and warm water as needed. Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry completely before returning to your dog. Avoid machine washing or machine drying, as this may cause the fibers to break down or the knots to loosen over time. Inspect after each wash for fiber integrity before returning to use.
