Designed by KONG, a trusted name in durable pet enrichment and dog toy development
Material and Construction
The KONG RoughSkinz Suedez Monkey is built with a multi-layer construction approach. The suede-like exterior provides a tactile texture that appeals to a dog’s natural chewing instincts while offering more resistance than standard plush fabric. KONG Ballistic material is incorporated into the build to add structural strength and extend the toy’s lifespan under moderate chewing pressure. Protected seams and sewn-in features reduce the vulnerability points that typically lead to tearing and picking in conventional plush toys. This is a moderate-duty toy — it is more durable than standard plush, but is not designed for aggressive or power chewing.
Texture, Size, and Play Duration Guidance
The suede-like exterior has a firm yet tactile feel that is satisfying for moderate chewers to mouth and engage with. Sized for medium dogs, the toy provides a comfortable grip for carrying, chewing, and interactive play. Dogs that chew moderately will experience longer play sessions compared to standard plush toys, thanks to the reinforced construction. However, play duration will still vary based on individual chew intensity — this toy is not intended for heavy or power chewers.
Play Style and Functional Use
The KONG RoughSkinz Suedez Monkey is designed for moderate chewing, squeaky interaction, carrying, and light tug play. The suede-like texture encourages dogs to engage with the toy through chewing and mouthing, while the squeaker sustains interest during play. The reinforced construction makes it a more practical option for medium dogs that tend to work through standard plush toys quickly. Supervise all play sessions and inspect regularly for wear, particularly at seams and squeaker areas.
Safety, Usage, and Care Guidance
Supervise play sessions — while reinforced, this toy is not indestructible and should be monitored during use
Inspect regularly for signs of wear, seam separation, or squeaker exposure; discontinue use if damaged
Select the appropriate size for your dog — medium sizing is designed for medium breeds
Not recommended for aggressive or power chewers — this toy is designed for moderate chewing behavior
Store in a clean, dry location when not in use
Cleaning and Maintenance
Spot clean the suede-like exterior with a damp cloth as needed. Avoid submerging in water, as this may affect the internal squeaker and fill material. Allow to air dry fully before returning to your dog. Regularly inspect seams, the squeaker area, and the Ballistic material panels for signs of wear or damage.
