Why Pet Owners Choose This Toy
Ultra-soft yarn material is specifically selected for puppies — gentle on developing teeth and gums while still providing satisfying chewing resistance
Ball shape is ideal for indoor fetch, rolling, and carry play — giving large-breed puppies a natural, instinct-friendly form to chase and retrieve
Dense, solid rope weave construction supports long-lasting play and holds up to repeated chew and fetch sessions better than loosely woven alternatives
Large size is appropriately scaled for large-breed puppies, providing a comfortable grip and carry experience without being undersized
Reinforces appropriate chewing behavior by giving large puppies a designated, safe outlet for instinctual chewing needs
Designed by KONG, a trusted name in puppy enrichment and dog toy development
Material and Construction
The KONG Rope Puppy Ball Large is made from ultra-soft, durable yarn that is knitted into a dense rope ball shape. The puppy-specific yarn material is softer than standard rope toy materials, making it appropriate for puppies whose teeth and gums are still developing. The dense, solid rope weave provides structural integrity during fetch and chew play while remaining pliable and gentle during mouthing. The large size is scaled for bigger-breed puppies that need a proportionally sized toy for comfortable interaction. This is a light to moderate duty toy — designed for puppy-level chewing and fetch play, not for adult dogs or aggressive chewers.
Texture, Size, and Play Duration Guidance
The knitted yarn rope has a soft, dense texture that is comfortable for large-breed puppies to grip, mouth, and chew. The ball shape rolls and moves naturally when thrown, encouraging chasing and retrieval during indoor fetch sessions. The large size ensures the toy is appropriately proportioned for bigger puppies — easy to pick up and carry without being too small to engage with safely. Play duration will vary based on the puppy’s energy level and chew intensity — puppies that rotate between fetching, carrying, and chewing will generally experience longer engagement sessions.
Play Style and Functional Use
The KONG Rope Puppy Ball Large is designed primarily for indoor fetch play. The ball shape rolls and moves naturally when thrown, encouraging large-breed puppies to chase and retrieve. It can also be used for independent carry play and satisfies instinctual chewing needs between fetch sessions. Like the small version, the ball is best suited for solo and fetch-oriented play rather than owner-led tug sessions. Supervise all play sessions, particularly with puppies, and inspect regularly for fraying or fiber separation.
Safety, Usage, and Care Guidance
Supervise all play sessions — rope toys should be monitored closely with puppies to prevent ingestion of loose fibers
Inspect regularly for significant fraying, fiber separation, or structural breakdown; discontinue use if the toy begins to come apart
Select the appropriate size for your dog — large sizing is designed for large-breed puppies
Not recommended for adult aggressive or power chewers — this toy is designed for puppy-level chewing behavior
Remove loose rope fibers promptly to prevent ingestion
Cleaning and Maintenance
Hand wash or rinse the Rope Puppy Ball with clean water to remove dirt and saliva buildup. Allow to air dry fully before returning to your puppy. Inspect rope fibers during cleaning for signs of fraying or separation and replace the toy as needed to maintain safe use.

A Note on Play Expectations
The KONG Rope Puppy Ball Large is a light to moderate duty rope toy built for puppy-level fetch and chewing play — not for adult dogs or aggressive chewers. Rope toys require active supervision to prevent ingestion of loose fibers, especially with puppies. Structured, supervised play will help extend the life of this toy and support healthy chewing habits from an early age. Replace when significant fraying or fiber separation is observed.
