Material and Construction
The KONG Signature Stick features a soft stuffed interior body wrapped in a rugged exterior shell. The construction balances comfort with moderate durability — soft enough to be gentle on teeth and gums, while the outer layer provides resistance during tug play. Internal components include squeaker, crinkle, and rattle elements layered within the body to create a multi-sensory play experience. This is a moderate-duty toy, not intended for aggressive chewers or unsupervised extended chewing sessions.
Texture, Size, and Play Duration Guidance
The toy has a soft, flexible feel with a slightly firmer outer surface. The LG size is suited for large breeds with the jaw size and grip strength to comfortably carry and interact with a stick-shaped toy. Play duration will vary — dogs engaged in active tug or fetch sessions may play for moderate periods, while dogs left unsupervised may work through the toy more quickly. Engagement time depends on individual chew strength and play behavior.
Play Style and Functional Use
Tug Toy: The stick shape provides a natural grip point for both dog and owner during tug sessions. The soft body allows for comfortable mouthing without hard edges. Fetch Toy: The lightweight construction and stick shape make it easy to throw and retrieve. The design supports visibility during outdoor fetch play. The multi-sensory sounds — squeaking, crinkling, and rattling — add an additional layer of engagement during both play styles.
Safety, Usage, and Care Guidance
Moderate supervision is recommended during play. Inspect the toy regularly for signs of wear — torn seams, exposed stuffing, or damaged squeaker components. If the toy shows significant wear, replace it to prevent ingestion of internal materials. Select the appropriate size for your dog; the LG size is intended for large breeds. Store in a dry location when not in use to maintain the toy’s condition.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Spot clean with a damp cloth as needed. Allow the toy to air dry completely before returning it to your dog. Avoid machine washing, as this may damage the internal components and outer construction. Regular inspection for wear is recommended to maintain safe use.
