Material and Construction
The KONG Maxx Star MD/LG is constructed with a puncture-resistant plush fabric rated 5 times more durable than standard plush materials. Super-strong thread is sewn through a minimal seam design, targeting the structural weak points most commonly found in traditional soft dog toys. This moderate-duty durable dog toy is built for active fetch and carry play without sacrificing the soft feel dogs are drawn to.
Texture, Size, and Play Duration Guidance
The exterior is soft with enough structural integrity to maintain the star shape during fetch and carry. The MD/LG sizing is proportioned for medium to large dog breeds, offering a comfortable grip for retrieval. The multi-point star shape adds unpredictability when thrown or dropped, extending engagement for high-energy dogs. Play duration will vary based on individual dog behavior — this toy is not intended as a dedicated heavy-duty chew toy and should be monitored with more aggressive chewers.
Play Style and Functional Use
The KONG Maxx Star is primarily a fetch toy. Its star shape creates irregular bounces and rolls that keep medium to large dogs guessing and chasing, adding excitement beyond standard round or stick fetch toys. The built-in squeaker rewards retrieval and sustains engagement across multiple play rounds. It also functions as a carry toy for dogs who enjoy holding a toy between active sessions.
Safety, Usage, and Care Guidance
Moderate supervision is recommended, particularly during initial play sessions
Inspect regularly for signs of fabric wear, torn seams, or squeaker exposure
Replace the toy if the outer layer is significantly damaged or the squeaker becomes accessible
Ensure the MD/LG size is appropriate for your dog — do not use with small breeds
Store in a clean, dry location when not in use
Cleaning and Maintenance
Spot clean with a damp cloth as needed. Avoid machine washing or high-heat drying methods, which can degrade the reinforced fabric layers and stitching over time. Inspect seams after each cleaning session.
