Description
A Textured Rubber Chew Toy with an Unpredictable Bounce for Large Dogs
The KONG Dotz Square Large is a rubber chew toy built for large dogs that thrive on both sustained chewing and active fetch play. Its layered, nubbed surface delivers varied chewing stimulation while passively supporting dental hygiene by working against teeth and gums during use. The square geometry produces a distinctly erratic, unpredictable bounce — different from round or triangle shapes — keeping large, high-energy dogs engaged and guessing. Best suited for light to moderate chewers in the large dog category.

Material and Construction
The KONG Dotz Square Large is constructed from rubber with a layered surface design featuring raised nubs across the exterior. The square geometry is the defining characteristic of this toy — its flat faces and sharp corners disrupt predictable rolling behavior and produce a highly erratic bounce on impact, making each throw a new experience for large, active dogs. The rubber compound provides moderate flexibility and resistance appropriate for light to moderate chewing. There are no internal components, stuffing, or squeakers, making this a durable, low-complexity chew toy for large breeds.
Texture, Size, and Play Duration Guidance
The toy presents a firm rubber feel with tactile variation across its layered, nubbed surface. The large size is designed for large-breed dogs with proportionate jaw size and bite strength. Chewing engagement duration will vary by individual dog — most large dogs will experience moderate engagement during chew sessions, with additional stimulation during fetch play driven by the unpredictable square bounce. Dogs with aggressive chew drives should be monitored closely, as this toy is positioned for light to moderate chewers rather than power chewing behavior.
Play Style and Functional Use
As a chew toy, the KONG Dotz Square Large provides textured rubber resistance that satisfies natural chewing instincts while the nubs passively clean teeth and gum lines during use. As a fetch toy, the square shape delivers a highly erratic bounce and roll pattern that sustains a large dog’s chase and retrieval instinct across indoor and outdoor surfaces. The flat-faced geometry means the toy rarely rolls in a straight line, creating a more dynamic and engaging fetch experience than standard round toys.
Safety, Usage, and Care Guidance
Moderate supervision is recommended during play. Inspect the toy regularly for signs of cracking, surface breakdown, or significant wear — replace if damage is detected. Confirm the large size is appropriate for your dog’s breed and jaw size. Store in a clean, dry location when not in use. Not recommended for aggressive chewers or unsupervised extended chewing sessions.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Wipe clean with a damp cloth after use. Hand washing with mild soap and warm water is suitable for more thorough cleaning. Allow to air dry completely before returning to play. Avoid high-heat drying methods that may compromise the rubber material over time.
